synopsis

Spring 1989. Bab El oued is a working class district of Algiers, soon after the bloody riots of 1988. At night, the young Boualem works in the district bakery. The day, the amplified voice of the imam prevents him from sleeping. In a fit of anger, he pulls the speaker based on the terrace of his building off. A group of young extremists, set up in the search of the author of this "provocative" act with the intention of administrating him an exemplar punishment.
